Q: Will the company use my registration information to send to telemarketers or third parties?

A:Vital Data Technology does not collect, rent or sell your personally identifiable information. This includes, but is not limited to, mailing addresses, telephone or fax numbers and email addresses.

Q: How do you protect my information?

A:Your information is stored by Vital Data Technology in a safe and secure manner at remote servers that are protected 24/7. In case of power outage or natural disaster, this remote server site has indefinite independent power supply via diesel generators, as well as, three weeks of fuel on site.

 

A:Vital Data Technology adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The privacy provisions of the federal law, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, apply to health information created or maintained by health care providers who engage in certain electronic transactions, health plans and health care clearinghouses. The Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) has issued the regulation, Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information applicable to entities covered by HIPAA. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is the Department component responsible for implementing and enforcing the privacy regulation. VitalDataTechnology strives to maintain and exceed the federal guidelines regarding the privacy and security of Personally Identifiable Information. The information stored on Vital Data Technology belongs to the individual member. Only by permission of the user/member may information be shared with other parties.

 

A:VitalDataTechnology may offer users, from time to time, the opportunity to register for surveys and clinical trials and other research related activities. We will do this by requesting that users, at the time of registration, complete a form authorizing the release of contact information.

Q: Is MyVitalData Secure?

A:Yes. Access to MyVItalData is PIN #-protected and restricted to authorized and authenticated healthcare and emergency professionals. In addition, MyVitalData exceeds all government privacy guidelines and takes extra steps to ensure your security and safety.

Q: If MyVitalData is secure, how do healthcare and emergency professionals get my data?

A:Only emergency healthcare and emergency professionals registered with us or authenticated by us can access your information. In addition, whenever your information is accessed we send you an alert notification (email or cell phone text message), including the date, time and place of access.

Q: How much computer experience do I need to sign up for a MyVitalData account?

A:All you need to know is how to access our MyVitalData website and input your information. If you need assistance, our member service representatives can support you through the steps required to register and complete your vital data records. In addition, members need an active email account to join.

Q: What if I do not have an email address?

A:All members must have an email address to sign up for MyVitalData.com and to purchase a membership. If you do not have one, you can log onto Yahoo, MSN or Google’s Gmail and create an email account (usually for free).

Q: What computer system do I need to access MyVitalData?

A:You will need a computer that is connected to the Internet. PC users may use Internet Explorer 6.0 or Firefox 1.0. The browser must support 128-bit encryption. For some features of MyVitalData.com, JavaScript functionality must be turned on in your browser.

Q: How much information should I enter into my MyVitalData record?

A:As the owner of your MyVitalData record, you can choose to store as much or as little medical information as you need. You can store a list of current prescriptions, allergies, chronic conditions and any other information that you feel is pertinent in your MyVitalData record. Please keep in mind that the more information you share, the more information your healthcare provider has to determine the best course of treatment for you.

Q: How do I share my MyVitalData information with healthcare professionals?

A:As you create your MyVitalData record, you will be prompted at each section to click a box that allows that portion of the record to be accessible to healthcare professionals if they are registered or authenticated by our call center. This checkbox is marked: "Share this information with medical personnel."

Q: Can I still subscribe to MyVitalData even if I do not have a primary doctor?

A:Yes. MyVitalData is available to everyone even if you do not have a primary doctor.

Q: Does my doctor need to subscribe to MyVitalData for me to use the service?

A:No. You can use the MyVitalData service regardless of whether or not your doctor subscribes to MyVitalData.com.

Q: How does sharing my vital health information help me if there is an emergency?

A:As long your MyVitalData information is up-to-date and emergency responders have access to your information, then medical personnel will have the immediate and essential “medical history” information needed to determine the best course of treatment for you in an emergency medical situation. Also, if you have included your physician and other emergency contacts, then medical personnel will be able to contact those who may be able to help you and/or your treatment. Therefore, it is in your best interest to keep your vital medical health data up-to-date.
